As our resolutions to diet begin, we look at weird ways in which celebs have tried to lose weight.

  • The Les Mis Diet. To play the role of dying prostitute in Les Miserables, Anne Hathaway says she followed a near-starvation diet which consisted of eating two thin squares of dried oatmeal paste a day. Anne lost 15 pounds on that nasty plan, which she said was "definitely a little nuts."
  • The Smoothie Diet. Jessica Simpson tried a smoothie-based crash diet to shed pounds after the birth of her daughter, Maxwell. Jessica allegedly downed three smoothies a day (with two healthy snacks) for five days.
  • The Vinegar Diet. Megan Fox says she does shots of vinegar to lose weight. Her claim: It cleanses out your system and reduces water weight. Oh yeah, and it tastes disgusting.
  • The Victoria's Secret Diet. Model Adriana Lima says she downs protein shakes (that includes powdered eggs), vitamins, and supplements for nine days before the runway show -- no solids.
  • The Black Swan Diet. Natalie Portman lost 20 pounds preparing for her role as a ballerina who loses it in Black Swan. The already skinny actress reportedly stuck to just 1,200 calories a day and worked out like a fiend. We're talking five to eight hours a day of ballet, swimming, and interval training.
  • The 7-Day Color Diet. Christina Aguilera reportedly digs this one: Basically, it's an attempt to get people to eat more fruits and veggies, but it's a little bizarre. Each day of the diet lets followers only eat foods of one color, starting with white, followed by red, green, orange, purple, yellow, and then all of the colors.
  • The Master Cleanse. When Beyoncé wanted to lose pounds fast for her role as Deena Jones in Dreamgirls, she turned to the Master Cleanse -- a liquid diet. B told Oprah that she drank a concoction of lime or lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and water six to 12 times a day, plus veggies, for 14 days.
  • The Baby Food Diet. Gwyneth Paltrow reportedly once downed pots of pureed veggies and other baby foods in an effort to stay slim. The bland diet is thought to eliminate toxicity in your bod and help you lose weight, since each pot only has 100-150 calories.
