A grad student at MIT has developed a digital ice cube that warns people before they black out from booze. Dhairya Dand invented the digital ice cubes after blacking out himself and designed them to measure how drunk he was to avoid a similar situation in the future. The cubes are made from gelatin and implanted with infrared transmitters. They change color from green to yellow to red, depending on how quickly you’re chugging the booze and how much you’ve had. If you continue to drink despite the red light, the digital ice cube actually sends a text message to your friends saying you should be taken home. (DigitalSpy.com)
