Hey everybody! I'm glad to be back visiting with you on a daily basis. If you've ever listened to Mid Ohio's Country WNCO, then we're probably already friends. If not , let me introduce myself. I'm Matt Appleby, a Lexington native and Ashland High School graduate who's been on the air in mid Ohio since the winter of 1980. And yes that is my real name (who'd make that up?) My wife Kelly and I make our home in Mansfield and our daughter Sara is out on her own working as a case manager RN for a home health care agency. And while this is my first opportunity to DJ on Y105, I have been a fan of this station for a long time and I love the music. I'd be glad to have you as a Facebook friend, too. Thanks for tuning in weeknights on Y105!
Chalk up 2013 as another weak effort when it comes to me filling out the NCAA Tournament Bracket. What you see posted below is not a redacted CIA spy document, those are my 2013 picks, or what's left of them. Pretty bad , huh? I have only 10 of my Sweet 16 remaining and only two of my Final Four are still alive including my pick for the championship game and ultimate champion.
My first mistake was picking Akron to advance. I was rooting for the Zips because as a sports reported I covered Coach Keith Dambrot when he was at Ashland University. Another goof was putting way to much faith in Georgetown to make it to the Final Four. Who new Florida Gulf Coast had a team (yes they have uniforms and everything). I overrated some and underrated others. And I have Aaron Craft to thank for the OSU Buckeyes living to play another day. Good for them and me.
In the end all I've lost is pride , and that was a shallow pool anyway.
