A controversial bill approving a five-dollar increase in court costs to fund 305-thousand-dollars in courtroom security upgrades at Mansfield City Hall got the nod from City Council Tuesday, but not without a few comments aimed at the judges.
It was a solemn ceremony in Shelby City Council Chambers Tuesday afternoon as 56-year-old William Freytag was sworn-in by Judge Jon Shaffer as Mayor of Shelby, succeeding Jim Henkel, who passed away Tuesday morning at age 63 following a year-long battle with cancer.
Two suspects are in custody in connection with two shooting incidents at Gabrielle Drive-Thru at 481 Springmill Street, and a search warrant turned up a treasure trove of evidence against the pair.
